In my opinion, I feel science definitely does more to improve our lives rather than harm. There are many factual events that have occurred that showed science effects us beneficially. It plays many roles in improving our lives. It helps with the design of realistic alternative energy sources, develop new forms of communication, help people create more sustainable lives, and especially discover new medicines and vaccines for treating killer diseases and such. Although science has led to signs of negative results sometimes, they’ve usually converted to positive in various ways. Additionally, think of the greatest scientists of all time. Without their scientific works, we probably wouldn’t be where we are today. Relating science to the three rules of history, it can be interpretive and can also be a series of dots with cause and effect. Overall, the sciences in general bring progression to our lives and without the advances that might have been bad initially, life would be less unproblematic. "Shou...I understand this blog's topic as.. "Should science progress for the future, and should we benefit from it?". Well, let's start off with my opinion. Science, is what allows us to evolve as human-beings. Without "evolving", we would still be stuck in a prehistoric-like era of time. Time, as we know it, changes, and moves on, whether or not we are ready for it to do so. Science, also changes, whether we are ready or not. I say this, because of the controversial luxury/necessity, the cellphone. Some swear by its existance and importance in society, while others feel it takes away from "the moment", and makes us less-human. But, what about medicine? Medicine greatly benefited from the evolution of science. But, let's take all of our scientific advancements away... No more traveling, no more time-keeping (by digital means), no more medicine, no sanitary water/food, and no law to keep us safe. Science has done nothing to "set us back" as humans, so-to-say. In fact, as much as people try to discredit science, they wouldn't last a single-day without it. -Thomas HindleAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00485806113290955791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5905174948295756526.post-65857769952900633342013-11-29T20:04:38.678-08:002013-11-29T20:04:38.678-08:00Although I believe that science does more improve ...Although I believe that science does more improve to lives than harm but I pretty agree with you. Science and technology affects us all, everyday of the year, from the moment we wake up, all day long and through the night. Our digital alarm clock, the smart phone we use, and the weather report...The modern world we live today would not be modern without the understandings and technology enabled by science. However, many people say that the Earth will destroyed by human along with the improving of science. Science does effect our lives in both positive and negative ways. An example for the negative way, dynamite. Alfred Nobel was the inventor of dynamite but he never wonder dynamite will be use in warfare instead of just using for mining. I think science itself doesn't do anything "wrong"...There is nothing in the world has only positive influence. Science harms the world today from some perspective is because of later human's desire. But in all, I think science does more to improve lives, without science, we may still wearing animal skins from an animal you had to kill with your bare hands to get it from. No electricity, no cures for disease, no technology, no anything but you drill wood to get fire. Science is improving the world rather than harming it. Advancements in studies, theories, observations and experiments make great impacts that improve and reform society. Although science does involve a process of trial and error, the errors we make can benefit future scientists in preventing those mistakes. It results in an increase in experience with the world of science, which allows us to become advanced and more modernized, overall improving lives. Science consists of three main branches dealing with biology, physics and chemistry. Advancements in biological science has increased knowledge about the human body and its functions. Human beings have led to developing new medicines that cure many diseases such as the influenza and other infections including strep throat. Scientists such as Copernicus made the heliocentric theory which stated that the sun was the center of the universe. Johannes Kepler used math to test and validate his theory. Galileo created an improved version of the telescope in order to assist Kepler. These scientists made expansions within the branch of physics. These advancements did nothing but improve on the lives of human beings. As a final point, progressions dealing with the scientific branch of chemistry benefits society as well. Chemistry is used in order to make new plastics that can be more environmentally friendly. They are able to be recycled and reused, which results in a decrease of dumping wastes into landfills. Overall, science does result in mistakes which may harm society, but in the long run, we learn from these mistakes and prevent making them once again, allowing us to improve the world with science. Being curious and discovering new ideologies and theories is what science is all about. Science might seem great but the ugly truth is that science not only benefits society, it also has a negative impact on us. In my opinion I believe that the benefits out weight the drawbacks and that overall science is beneficial. Science is very interpretive (just like history!) so its up to society to determine what's right and what's wrong but either way there are both good and bad when it comes to science its like a double edged sword. On one hand you have all this great technology we use today including phones and tablets and the very computer I'm writing my blog with, as well as many other advances that help civilization. Then on the other hand you have all of these weapons of mass destruction and drones that cause harm and kill people.
